We did the Healing Waters Lodge’s five day float trip on the Smith River during June 17-21 and I can’t say enough good things about the whole experience as well as the particulars of the services provided by HWL. Every aspect of their service was excellent. We switched guides each day and they all were outstanding! It was a pleasure and a privilege to spend the day fishing with each of those kindly experts!Bryan Shaw2023-10-08I have stayed at more than a few fishing lodges and this was my favorite. The number of fishable areas near bye allow you to fish a lot of different types of fishing. I would highly recommend fishing the private waters on Ruby and Mill Creek if you are an experienced fly fisher. Don't let the small waters fool you, there are large brown trout in these waters. Laura is there every morning with coffee and a smile to greet you as you roll in for breakfast. Mike is very well read and is a great conversionalist on just about any subject, with entertaining anecdotes and stories on the local area and rivers. The food was fabulous, with gourmet lunches and terrific dinners. Everything was well coordinated and went without a hitch. And of course there is the fishing. Mike and Laura are just so nice and really worked hard to make the experience memorable. There lodge is great. Rooms were well acquainted. I really liked the fluffy towels. They fitted me with all the fly fishing gear and my guide, Butch, was great. Caught rainbow and brook trout. Went down the Big Hole River and saw eagles and we floated down the river fishing for hours. Just a trip down the river without fishing is an experience. It's so beautiful there. At the lodge, they served breakfast and dinner with happy hour wine or beer. Box lunch was provided on the boat. Food was excellent and the conversation with all the other guests made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. One group had been coming to the Healing Waters for close to 30 years. I can see why. And the staff were incredible and so hospitable. Geary, Dan, Cal and several others, I wish I wrote down all their names to say thank you for an incredible time! I forgot my sunglasses on the second day of fishing and Geary let me borrow his other pair. Thank you Geary! After dinner, I really enjoyed taking quiet walks down the road from the lodge. The sunset is spectacular. It's a great place to feel close to nature. The evenings are so quiet. So few cars. I forgot what it's like to be outside and just hear nature. I can't wait to come back and now I want to buy 20 acres in Montana and retire there!
normvinn26. October, 2023A fishing paradise This was our third trip to the lodge. Beautiful setting next a small lake. Individual cabins and rooms, very well furnished and very comfortable.. Communal dining in a large dining lodge. Outstanding cuisine. Knowledgeable guides, available to take guests to 5+ world-class rivers in the area. We have brought three different groups of friends there. We will be back again.Steve D23. October, 2023World Class Fly Fishing Lodge in Montana Healing Waters is a great fly fishing lodge located near blue ribbon trout streams in Montana, with comfortable accommodations and great food. The centrally located lodge is excellent for fishing a variety of streams and lakes...from the Big Blue ribbons, to quieter, private walking or small rafting streams. Whatever type of fishing you want, the terrific guides will provide it. The commendations are very nice and most are recently upgraded with terrific views over the Ruby River valley. You are immediately welcomed, and I do mean welcomed by either the staff or Mike Geary the Owner and shown around the property. The guides are very experienced and accommodating. The variety of rivers, conditions and fish make their location spectacular. As to the hospitality of Healing Waters, the rooms are comfortable, clean and stocked for a wonderful stay. The friendliness and accommodating nature of the staff to serve is very much appreciated. If you want to visit the sights and/or fish this area there is only one place to stay and that is Healing Waters Lodge. I have been coming to this area since I was a small child....which is a long time - just so you know, and I can tell you without equivocation that Healing Waters is the place to be. September, 2023Fly Fishing School - Outstanding Experience I attended Healing Waters Lodge for the Fly Fishing School. The Healing Waters Lodge Experience is amazing. From the time I arrived until I departed, I was treated like royalty. Upon arrival, I was escorted to my beautiful room. The bedding, linens and amenities in the bedroom gave me the experience of a 5 star resort. I then walked to the main lodge and found it stocked with nice appetizers and a variety of beverages. I met my fishing peers before dinner over drinks. Then one of the fishing guides presented an overview of our week to come. Next it was time for a delicious dinner (including appetizer, main course and incredible dessert). The dining room is amazing! The amazing dinners, breakfasts and gourmet packed lunches on the river continued for the week. I could justify spending a week at the lodge just for the beautiful amenities, solitude, food, and fascinating conversations with fellow fishermen. Oh, and did I mention the attentive employees who called me by my first name and handled any questions or requests? The fishing guides were tremendous. We started every day with a fishing presentation geared to building our fly fishing knowledge. As a guest, we had input into what type of fishing we wanted for the day (spring creeks, floats or wade fishing) Of course the guides had all the local knowledge to guide us to an area with the most fish activity. Depending on fishing conditions, we were back at the lodge with ample to relax and socialize before dinner. I loved the opportunity to Fish, Learn, Relax, and Socialize at this amazing. The variety and amount of water that can be accessed from Healing Waters is second to none. Visit sooner than later as you will want to share this experience with your fishing friends.
